Is Reponsibility an access to Freedom?

Responsibility appears heavy!

But, look deep, and you may discover an amazing access to power and freedom.

A completely free person would freely undertake bold actions. That, however, is not enough. To guarantee results, we need the magic of responsibility.

Castenada's Don Juan enlightens us:

When a man decides to do something he must go all the way, but he must take responsibility for what he does. No matter what he does, he must know first why he is doing it, and then he must proceed with his actions without having doubts or remorse about them.
Look at me, I have no doubts or remorse. Everything I do is my decision and my responsibility. The simplest thing I do, to take you for a walk in the desert for instance, may very well mean my death. Death is stalking me. Therefore, I have no room for doubts or remorse. If I have to die as a result of taking you for a walk, then I must die.
You on the other hand, feel that you are immortal, and the decisions of an immortal man can be cancelled or regretted or doubted. In a world where death is the hunter, my friend, there is not time for regrets or doubts. There is only time for decisions.
When you get angry you always feel righteous. You have been complaining all your life because you don't assume responsibility for your decisions. To assume the responsibility of one's decisions means that one is ready to die for them. It doesn't matter what the decision is. Nothing could be more or less serious than anything else. In a world where death is the hunter there are no small or big decisions. There are only decisions that we make in the face of our inevitable death.

An extraordinary move!

As you empty yourself and WAIT, you think there are some hidden obstacles. How do you find them? Where are those demons lurking?

To move forward,
you must figure out exactly what is obstructing you.
Whatever it is, it isn't really there;
it has no reality, no substance.

It's your own creation, a phantom lurking in the shadows of your mind,
a shadow demon. Your obstructions are your demons,
and your demons are shadow dwellers.
They live and thrive in the half-light of ignorance,
so the way to slay a demon is
by illuminating it with the full force and power of your focused attention;
by looking at it, hard.
Banish shadow with light and
see for yourself that no obstruction exists, nor ever did.
We create our demons and we feed them.
To awaken we must slay them.
That's really the whole process:
Slay one demon, take one step.

~Patanjali

Next, which actions to take? How do you move?

When you are inspired by some great purpose,
some extraordinary project,
all your thoughts break their bonds;
your mind transcends limitations,
your consciousness expands in every direction,
and you find yourself in a new, great and wonderful world.
Dormant forces, faculties and talents become alive,
and you discover yourself to be a greater person
by far than you ever dreamed yourself to be.
~Patanjali

So, which is YOUR extraordinary project?

The Waiting Game!

Once the intention is set and impeccable actions are in motion, there is still a gap between intention and reality. What to do in the gap? How to WAIT? Castenada shares:

A warrior takes responsibility for his acts; for the most trivial of his
acts. HE WAITS PATIENTLY, KNOWING THAT HE IS WAITING, AND KNOWING WHAT HE IS WAITING FOR. That is the warrior's way. What makes us unhappy is to want. Yet if we would learn to cut our wants to nothing, the smallest thing we'd get would be a true gift. To be poor or wanting is only a thought; and so is to hate, or to be hungry, or to be in pain. They are only thoughts for me now, I have accomplished that feat. The power to do that is all we have, mind you, to oppose the forces of our lives; without that power we are dregs, dust in the wind. It is up to us as single individuals to oppose the forces of our lives. Only a warrior can survive. A warrior knows that he is waiting and what he is waiting for; and while he waits he wants nothing and thus whatever little thing he gets is more than he can take. If he needs to eat he finds a way, because he is not hungry; if something hurts his body he finds a way to stop it, because he is not in pain. To be hungry or to be in pain means that the man has abandoned himself and is no longer a warrior; and the forces of his hunger and pain will destroy him. ...........You must act like a warrior. One
learns to act like a warrior by acting, not by talking. A warrior has only his will and his patience and with them he builds anything he wants.

So, in your life, are you "wanting" or are you "creating"?

Unbending Intent and Impeccable Actions!

All that is required is impeccability, energy, and that begins with a single act that has to be deliberate, precise, and sustained.

If that act is repeated long enough, one acquires a sense of unbending intent, which can be applied to anything else.

If that is accomplished the road is clear.

One thing will lead to another until the warrior realizes his full potential.

....

Be impeccable. I have told you this dozens of times.

To be impeccable means to put your life on the line in order to back up your decisions, and then to do quite a lot more than your best to realize those decisions.

~"The Art of Dreaming", by Carlos Castaneda

......................................................................

The truth of the matter is that there's nothing you can't accomplish if:

(1) You clearly decide what it is that you're absolutely committed to achieving,
(2) You're willing to take massive action,
(3) You notice what's working or not, and
(4) You continue to change your approach until you achieve what you want, using whatever life gives you along the way.

There is always a way-if you're committed.
